Early in the morning, board the intercity train for a cross-country rail journey to Klaipeda, Lithuania’s busy seaport. A short ferry ride will take you on the Curonian Spit, a World Heritage Site. This narrow stretch of sand is washed by the waves of the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea. In a typical fishing village of Juodkrante enjoy a local lunch, featuring some locally caught and freshly smoked fish, among other specialities.

The afternoon is dedicated to the exploration of the sandy peninsula:
– Walk the mysterious Hill of Witches forest trail, dotted with wooden sculptures of witches and devils.
– Visit the quaint town of Nida with its idyllic shoreline and colourful fishermen houses.

Leave Riga to explore the scenic Gauja National Park., locally nicknamed as ‘Switzerland of Latvia’. Around lunchtime, board the vintage, Latvian-made intercity train to reach the Estonian border (locally sourced lunch box provided) for an easy same-platform transfer onboard the modern intercity Tallinn-bound train.
